Talking My Soul
05:51
|
|||
alking my soul to a close up friend
Choking on thick air burning in my chest
And stripping my secrets
Running in the night with red stained lips
High on the damp grass
As I lay back body to the earth
We’re squinting at the sky
Shooting stars
And flickering madness
Overwhelmed by my life
And its death
The sun starts to rise
With every color in view
One by one we lose grasp of the night
One direction, the moon
One direction, dim morning light
Arms wrapped and twisted around our backs
Our shadows stretch down the street
Making sure to cover every crack
From the dim sweet light
Of the shining lamp posts
Making our mark
On your special street
Named after my favorite tree that weeps
Let’s get a boat and sit out at sea
You and me
And discuss our life at land,
How we want it to be
Everything illuminates at night
Tranistioning to light
Isn’t that life?
Constant terrifying changes
The second you feel settled
It’s time to move onward, onward, onward
Wish like crazy this night could last forever
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye..
Let’s get a boat and sit out at sea,
you and me,
and discuss our life at land
how we want it to be
So we only get just this night, Louie
I’m leaving in the morning
Let’s savor every minute that goes by
Like a map will follow with the slightest change of color
in that sky
All senses, open and willing
Let’s get a boat and sit out at sea,
you and me
And discuss our life at land
how we want it to be
Talking my soul
That’s me and my friend, Louie

Circus
04:17
|
|||
You’re running fast, running faster
Tryin to catch up, oh I’m runnin after you
Should let you go oh cuz I know
We’ll be at it again in a day or so…
You scream loud, so I scream louder
Hard to decide which of us is prouder
Crowd rolls in but we don’t even notice
Too busy trying, we’re trying to control this
Travelin, travelin, travelin, travelin circus
Tell me oh tell me what did I do to deserve this?
How long will our sanity hold?
How long before we drop?
Life under the big top
I’m growin strong, I’m growin stronger
Won’t be hangin around for much longer
Because I’ve learned, oh now I’ve learned this
Love is toxic, so I’m gonna burn this
Travelin, travelin, travelin, travelin circus
There’s nothing, there’s nothing either of us can do to save this
This is where we go our separate ways
This is where we both say stop
We’ve taken our show around this town
Now it’s time for the curtain to fall on down
Look around, there’s no one left but you and me that has to be some sign
That now’s the time for both of us to go and find
A new love, you go find yours and I’ll go find mine
How long could this fantasy have lasted?
We’re both laughing as we drop
Life under the big top

The Watcher
03:42
|
|||
as the waves ride towards the shore
each friend has their moment where they dive in full force
i’m the one left watching all the clothes
as the waves ride towards the shore
each friend has their moment where they dive in full force
i’m the one left watching all the clothes
sitting on the sand
trying to let go
as a kid I would literally run past the hot sand
dive in the rush all dirtied and tan
i’d swim far out till the people at shore turned to figurines
and my worries
would be so far, far away
left at that beach
my feet continually push
insecurities deep in the sand
low self esteem ankle deep
with each grain
with every breath I’m pushed further away
from the lull of the ocean
and the enticement to play
now I find myself stuck to the shore
bombarded by thoughts that don’t float anymore
now I find myself stuck to the shore
bombarded by thoughts that don’t float anymore
I sit there and meditate
scared to move close
to the rocks and the dirt and the salt water gulps
the main thing I fear is to drown in those waves
but when you’re safe at shore
you feel even more so embraced
by the pulls of the rocky shaded layered sea
and as I look around
and as I look around
and as I look around
the one who remains is me

Wildwood
05:07
|
|||
The way a mountain falls
When the avalanche calls
The trees they go to sleep
The snow's buried them deep
The young ones have no chance
No one's holding their hands
The elders know this time
To raise their boughs high
'cause the snow's billowing down, down towards the ground
and each year the forest proudly grows, but softly cries a lonely sound
Waking Wildwood grapple
Mother told them to
Spend a whole damn lifetime
Spreading their roots
'cause that cold bitter snow's tumblin down
and each year the forest proudly grows, but softly cries a lonely sound
Maybe a tree, isn’t hard to be
Don’t ask me
Don’t ask me
Don’t ask me

Lynnette

You met me
On that sunny July day
When everything is so alive
I didn’t know how to handle it
Coming to terms that you’d soon die
And as you turned the corner
A smile on your face
Glowing in the sun’s warm embrace
With this unbelievable
Sense of grace
You were so alive
You were so alive
We talked the way we’ve always talked
In loud and glorious form
I didn’t know how to handle it
My logic and soul were torn
You were so alive
You were so alive
( music break )
And as I walked you to your car
In that summer cement parking lot
Where everything’s so still and alive around us
Back again, back again, back again
For another hug, another hug
I said my last goodbye
To you
I watched you drive away (away…)
And didn’t let go
Until I couldn’t see you anymore
And hoped for another day
You were so alive
You were so alive
You were so alive
I remember you as full of life.

This Too
07:40
|
|||
The good, the bad
It all goes away
Evolving and permeable
Sculpted like clay.
Never quite finished
Don’t rely on it to be
Everything is temporary
Just like this song
And the thought you just had
Everything is fleeting
Moving so fast
Everything is temporary,
Temporary.
Free.
This will set you free
Free.
It’s tempting to resist
We don’t want good to end.
A moment, a sensation, a loyal true friend.
Although it’s gone
It can still serve as a memory
Through strong energy
Everything is temporary
Free.
This will set you free.
Free.
The hardship
The pain
The gutteral moans
The coldest of loneliness deep in your bones
It too, will pass
It too, will pass
It’s temporary, I promise
Everything is temporary.
A moment, a sensation
I got lost in my infatuation
Now I’m drowning in inebriation
Surrounded by my lonliness
Someday I know I’ll get over this
Someday I know I will be free
Free.
Believe me.
This will set you free.

Big Rooms, Bright Lights
03:05
|
|||
I wanna know
Where did the dream you sold me go?
Was here and now it’s gone.
I wanna see
The sign where you said my face would be
A face that looked nothin’ like me.
Was everything you said
like the stories my grandma read by my bed?
I think I’d rather play with my friends instead.
Sit around the table and joke.
Pass the wine, the whiskey, beer and smoke
And just forget the fact that we’re dirt broke
Pay no mind to the latest trends
Just where the next song begins and ends
And just do it again and again and again and again and again
Stroll down the Hudson at night
And share a kiss under the moonlight
Yeah, that sounds alright
I wanna say,
You can keep your big rooms, your bright lights
I’m okay.
I’ll see them down the road someday.
Someday.
